The MSU Innovation Center helps Michigan State University researchers, students and external partners translate ideas into real-world impact. Through corporate engagement, including corporate sponsored research, technology transfer, startup support and strategic partnerships, the Innovation Center advances innovation, economic development and public benefit.
MSU researchers turn to the Innovation Center for support in protecting intellectual property, advancing translational research, developing industry partnerships, identifying corporate partnerships as a source of research funding and commercializing discoveries. Each year, the Innovation Center helps move hundreds of innovations toward real-world applications through patents, licenses, startup ventures, corporate sponsored research and research collaborations.
The MSU Innovation Center is located in the Rosenberg Center, a multi-tenant innovation hub at 195 Crescent Road, on MSU campus. The facility is designed to bring startups, corporate partners, university-affiliated groups and innovation-focused organizations into closer proximity, creating more opportunities for collaboration among researchers, entrepreneurs, investors and external partners.
MSU Business-CONNECT serves as the front door for industry engagement at Michigan State University, connecting businesses with researchers, facilities, talent and university resources. The team develops strategic research partnerships, facilitates corporate sponsored research agreements and helps align industry needs with MSU expertise.
MSU Technologies manages the university's technology transfer and commercialization activities, helping researchers protect and advance intellectual property while facilitating licensing and startup formation. The team also supports research partnerships through confidentiality agreements, material transfer agreements and data use agreements that enable collaboration with external organizations.
The MSU Innovation Center also supports student, faculty, and entrepreneurs by providing access to translational funding through MSU’s translational funding programs, as well as access to venture development resources, mentorship, customer discovery support, investor connections, and startup funding opportunities through the MSU Research Foundation and broader MSU innovation ecosystem.
