Counseling and Psychiatric Services

Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS) offers a wide range of mental health and emotional support services to enrolled Michigan State University students, including time-limited individual counseling, group counseling, 24/7/365 counseling through the My SSP app, psychological assessment and testing, multicultural counseling, substance abuse counseling, online self-assessments, outreach engagement, and psychiatric consultation and treatment.

Any student registered for one or more credits is eligible for an initial consultation/assessment; as resources permit, additional services and/or referrals to community and on-campus resources may be provided. The first three psychiatry visits are at no charge, and the fourth and subsequent visits will be billed to insurance or to the client. Counseling services, including the free My SSP app, are available at no cost to students.

CAPS is located on the third floor of the Olin Health Center building, with an auxiliary location on the third floor of the MSU Union Building. For more information call 1-517-355-8270 or visit www.caps.msu.edu.
