Michigan State University may award transfer credit for coursework completed at another institution. To receive transfer credit, students must earn a grade of at least 2.0 in each course.
Students may transfer a maximum of 60 credits from two-year institutions. These credits may be earned and transferred to MSU at any point in a student’s degree program. There is no limit on the number of credits that may be transferred from four-year institutions. Students transferring in credit must still meet all degree requirements and university residency requirements. For example, no more than 10 of the final 30 credits required for a degree may be transferred from another institution without approval from the Vice Provost for Undergraduate and Dean of Undergraduate Studies.
Students enrolled at MSU may earn transfer credit by taking courses at another institution as a guest or non-degree student. Students attending institutions in the state of Michigan can use the Michigan Uniform Undergraduate Guest Application. Students are responsible for confirming that courses taken at another institution will transfer to MSU before enrolling. Students should consult an academic advisor and transfer.msu.edu before taking courses elsewhere.
